The recent joint production of The Addams Family by Waitaki Girls’ and Boys’ High Schools was a resounding success, delighting audiences with lively performances, creative staging, and an abundance of student talent. From the very first note to the final bow, the show was a testament to months of dedication, hard work, and collaboration.

Bringing a production of this scale to life takes a village, and the effort behind the scenes was just as impressive as what happened on stage. A huge congratulations goes to our passionate cast and crew who spent countless hours in rehearsals, learning lines, mastering choreography, and perfecting their performances.

A special thanks must go to Director Sophie Pilbrow for her vision and leadership, Musical Director Stephen Hinds for his expertise in guiding the show’s music, and Producer/Manager Marie Anne Bowman for her tireless work bringing the entire production together.

The main cast delivered standout performances, led by Justus Jones as Gomez and supported by Blake Van der Spek (Lucas), Jack Strachan (Mal), Tyler Creighton-Gray (Pugsley), Marlow Scott-Toft (Fester), and Rowan Blair (Lurch). Their dedication and stage presence brought the beloved and quirky Addams Family characters to life in unforgettable ways.

Our thanks and congratulations also go to the many students who portrayed the Ancestors—each one added depth, energy, and humour to the show. A special shout out to the band members from the reed, drum, bass, and brass sections—your musical talents brought the show to life and added an extra layer of magic for the audience to enjoy.
