Ki o rahi

Monday 25th November 2019

On Friday 22nd November, 6 WBHS students and 5 WGHS students headed to Timaru for the Aoraki Secondary Schools Junior Ki-O-Rahi Champs.

While WBHS have been entering this competition for many years, it is the first time WGHS has sent players. Waitaki Boys’ have won this event every year that it has been run since 2013. The first few years we took out the male team title and in 2017 we took the double winning the male section and then combining with Timaru Girls to win the mixed title as well. There was no event in 2018 due to weather cancellations.

This year there was only a mixed competition on offer so the two Waitaki schools entered a team and were the eventual winners of the championship, taking down Mountainview High School in the final. Well done team - awesome work.

A huge thank you to Mr Ryburn (WBHS) and Ms Cross (WGHS) for their support of the team on the day and to Mrs Symes for her organisation of the team.
